Root Canal Treatment

Sometimes when a tooth is badly decayed the nerve inside becomes involved. Symptoms such as pain, swelling or sensitivity can be a sign of nerve involvement. If left untreated this can lead to an infection or abscess.

An ‘RCT’ is a procedure where the nerve is permanently removed from the tooth and the space where it was is sealed and a filling is placed as normal to restore the look and function of the tooth. It may be further strengthened by placing a crown on it.

The purpose of an ‘RCT’ is to help save a tooth which would otherwise need to be extracted.
